Posted on in Personal Injury

When people think about being injured by doctors, most at times that think about being injured by medical doctor. But a lot of people have to make claims because they have a dentist who has done them wrong. Dentists, like doctors, can make mistakes which cause pain and suffering to their patients. Below are some of the common reasons why people have to bring medical malpractice claims against their dentists.

Dental work that's careless

The first reason that someone may make hire a personal injury lawyer to make a claim against their dentist is because they received dental work that was careless. This may include things like cutting a patient's lip or their gum, or even removing the incorrect tooth. Just like doctors, dentists can make mistakes and can injure their patients.

Misdiagnosis

Another reason that people make a claim against their dentist is because they either made the wrong diagnosis or they didn't diagnose their condition. Missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis can cause a lot of pain for a patient, especially if the diagnosis that was incorrect leads to someone being disfigured.

Inadequate treatment

There are two ways that this can happen to a patient. It might happen on one specific occasion, or it might even happen during years of treatment. But if you're going to be successful with this, you have to prove that a competent and reasonable dentist wouldn't have caused the same kind of problems that this dentist had caused.

Sexual claims

Sometimes a dentist doesn't cause physical harm to a patient, but they do things that are inappropriate to patients. One of these things that they do is touch a patient inappropriately. Even though the person hasn't been damaged physically the damage to them is no less upsetting.

Many people don't think about making claims against their dentist, but it does happen. These are just a few of the ways that people are injured by dentists.
